Our Story
Kuwait Sailing School (KSS) was founded in 2019 by me, Shayma Bakhesh, a Kuwaiti sailor with a deep passion for the sea. From the start, I was supported by my husband, who shares the same love for sailing, and together, we wanted to make the sport accessible to everyone. What began with just one boat and a dream has grown into a thriving community where people of all ages can learn to sail and enjoy non-motorized watersports.
As an RYA-affiliated club, we are committed to providing high-quality training in a safe and supportive environment. We also run an Emergency First Response (EFR) Center, offering certified first aid and CPR training to promote safety both on and off the water.
Our journey has been one of hard work, resilience, and community support. With no outside investors, we built KSS from the ground up, relying on second-hand and donated boats to expand our fleet. This grassroots approach has allowed us to stay true to our mission: to inspire more people to experience the joy of sailing and watersports in a welcoming and accessible way.
As a local club, we take pride in what we’ve built and the community we’ve created. Whether you’re looking to learn, train, or simply enjoy time on the water, we invite you to be part of our journey and set sail with us.
