"Learn to Crew" Course

Description

Your first step into yacht sailing. Designed for complete beginners, this hands-on course teaches the essential skills needed to become a confident and useful member of a yacht crew, including personal safety, seamanship, sail handling and helming. The course provides the sailing experience and Competent Crew certification needed to progress towards further sailing and skipper qualifications.

15 hours total, delivered over 5 sessions of 3 hours each.

Who is it for?

Perfect for complete beginners with no previous yacht sailing experience who want to start their sailing journey and work towards becoming a skipper.

What’s included

•  Instructor-led course

•  Training takes place on a 24-foot Eliote with tiller steering and an outboard engine.

•  Required safety equipment.

What to wear

  •  Comfortable, sporty clothing that allows easy movement

  •  Cooler weather: layers, fleece/thermals and a waterproof jacket

  •  Trainers or deck shoes – no black soles.

  •  Hat and sunscreen

  •  Sailing gloves (optional)

  •  Insulated Water bottle

  •  Seasickness medication if needed

  •  Small bag with personal items and snacks

Cancellation & refund policy

·       Cancellation more than 2 weeks before the course: Full refund or rescheduling available.

·       Cancellation 1–2 weeks before the course: Rescheduling only, within 2 months. For end-of-season sessions in May, rescheduling may be carried over to October.

·       Cancellation less than 1 week / No-show: No refund or rescheduling, regardless of the reason.

·       Withdrawal from the course: Remaining sessions are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be used towards another activity.

·       Late arrival: More than 15 minutes late may mean the boat has already departed. Missed sessions cannot be refunded, rescheduled or credited.

·       Cancellation by KSS due to weather: The session will be rescheduled. The instructor makes the final decision on whether conditions are safe.

·       Cancellation by KSS for operational reasons: The session will be rescheduled and a complimentary session credited. If KSS cancels 2 or more sessions, you may request a full refund if you choose not to continue.
